Tertiary Study Scholarship Conditions - 2025 Tertiary Year

POST COLLEGE STUDY/TRAINING SCHOLARSHIP CONDITIONS

AVAILABLE TO STUDENTS IN THE ARCHDIOESE OF WELLINGTON ONLY

Applications open on 15 August 2026 and close on 31 October 2026

1.   The Catholic Foundation has scholarships available to young Catholics who have attended Catholic Colleges or non-Catholic Colleges within the Archdiocese of Wellington, who are entering  their 1st and 2nd year of tertiary study at a University/Polytech/Industry Training Organisation.

2.   Each successful scholarship recipient will receive a total scholarship of $4,000  towards the cost of full time study at a  course at a New Zealand University/Polytech/Industry Training Organisation.. Each scholarship will be paid as follows:

* An initial $2,000 to be paid to the recipient for the first year of study.

* A further sum of $2,000 to be paid to the recipient on receipt of a satisfactory 1st year academic results or training assessment for 2026.

3.  In determining the award of the scholarship, the Catholic Foundation Scholarships Selection Committee will consider the all-round qualities of each applicant, not only their academic/training achjievement, but also the potential contribution an applicant may make to the future of the Church (and New Zealand society).  The decision of the Foundation Scholarships Selection Committee is final and no appeal on decisions made will be entered into.

4.  All applications must be endorsed by the relevant Parish Priest, Assistant Parish Priest or Parish Secretary in the parish in which the applicant resides.

5. The Catholic Foundation of the Archdiocese of Wellington reserves the right to publish the name and photograph of each scholarship recipient  in the Archdiocesan monthly newsletter, and in other Catholic publications as deemed appropriate.  The photo supplied with the application may be used for this purpose.

6. The  Catholic  Foundation  places  no   restriction   on Foundation Scholarship applicants as to the number of other scholarships that  he/she  may  hold simultaneously.  The responsibility rests with each applicant  to be familiar with the application requirements for each scholarship that they may be applying for.

7.  Applications open on 15 August and close on 31 October of each year.  No late applications will be received.
