Tertiary Study Scholarship Conditions - 2025 Tertiary Year

1.   The Catholic Foundation has 3 scholarships available to Catholic students in the Wellington Archdiocese who are in their 2nd and 3rd year of tertiary education. Each scholarship is worth $4,000

2.   Each successful scholarship recipient will receive a scholarship of $2 000  towards the cost of full time study for a Degree/Diploma/Certificate course at a New Zealand University or Polytechnic Institute. Each scholarship will be paid as follows:

* An initial $2,000 to be paid to the recipient upon the presentation to the Foundation’s Secretary of the student’s satisfactory results for 2024

* And a further sum of $2,000 to be paid to the recipient upon the presentation to the Foundation’s Secretary of the student’s satisfactory results for 2025.

* Two scholarships of $2,000 each are available for refugee students (1st year refugees) in their final year of secondary school to assist with development and support in tertiary or trade training skills.

3.  In determining the award of the scholarship, the Catholic Foundation Scholarships Selection Committee will consider the all-round qualities of each applicant, not only the  academic achievement, but also the potential contribution an applicant may make to the future of the Church (and New Zealand society).  The decision of the Foundation Scholarships Selection Committee is final and no appeal on decisions made will be entered into.

4.  All applications must be endorsed by the relevant Parish Priest, Parish Secretary or Lay Pastoral Leader.

5. The Catholic Foundation of the Archdiocese of Wellington reserves the right to publicise the name and photograph of each scholarship recipient  in the Archdiocesan monthly newspaper ‘Wel-Com’, and in other Catholic publications as deemed appropriate.

6. The  Catholic  Foundation  places  no   restriction   on Foundation Scholarship applicants as to the number of other scholarships that  he/she  may  hold simultaneously. However, the Catholic Foundation cannot and does not purport to speak for other scholarship providers in this matter and the conditions that may be attached to their particular scholarship/s awards. The responsibility therefore rests with each Catholic Foundation Scholarship  applicant  to be familiar with the application requirements of other scholarship providers when such applications are being planned.

7. The online Foundation Scholarship applications must be received no later than 31 October 2024.  Late applications will NOT be accepted.
